Chris MacLellan Makes Meaning From His Caregiving Journey, Episode 150

from The Heart of Hospice Podcast · host Helen Bauer

Chris MacLellan is making meaning from his experience as the primary caregiver for his life partner Richard. Chris and Richard’s story was featured in the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-nominated 3-part story, “In Sickness and In Health: A Couple’s Final Journey,” which told their journey of caregiving. The story told of the challenges LGBT partners have in dealing with the medical and legal system, but it also told of the love and joy my partner Chris and Richard had in their relationship. Chris has a background in social work and also has a unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education). Knowing what they could expect from hospice care made Chris a strong advocate for Richard’s care. As founder of The Whole Care Network, Chris has made incredible meaning from his caregiving experience. Richard’s legacy lives on in the storytelling and caregiver resources.
