SCORES. We’ll begin with the men on Saturday night with SEVEN games going to shootouts, all of them in conference play, so they all actually meant something. We’ll start with the men’s actionNo. 1 Denver stayed perfect with a 3-2 win over No. 9 North Dakota as Boston Buckberger scored the game-winner. That’s 12-0 on the season and 21 in a row for the Pios. Bemidji State stunned No. 5 Minnesota 3-1, with Kirklan Irey scoring twice in just the third win in school history over the Gophers. The last time Bemidji State beat the Gophers was January 30, 2016 and it’s the first time the Beavers have beaten the Gophers in Bemidji. No. 4 Michigan State edged Notre Dame 4-3, with Daniel Russell scoring the eventual game-winner with two minutes remaining. No. 6 Cornell tied No. 20 Harvard 2-2 but picked up the extra point in the shootout. No. 11 Boston University and No. 7 Maine also tied 2-2, with BU taking the extra point in the shootout. No. 8 Colorado College and No. 13 Western Michigan played to a 1-1 draw, with CC winning the shootout in a goaltender duel - Kaidan Mbereko and Hampton Slukynski combined for 52 saves.UMass defeated No. 10 Providence 5-1 for a series split. No. 14 Ohio State edged Lindenwood 3-2, with Davis Burnside and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scoring. Yeah, I think I’m going to just mention Gunnarwolfe Fontaine every time he scores from here on out. Maybe. But probably not. It’s just fun to say.No. 15 UMass Lowell shut out Vermont 3-0 as Henry Welsch recorded 20 saves in goal. Northern Michigan tied No. 16 Minnesota State 1-1 and won the shootout - Wildcats rebuilding efforts have to remember you have to crawl before you can walk. Was it a let down, well, it wasn't a loss, but it also wasn't two points. Colgate picked up the extra point with a shootout win over No. 17 Dartmouth after the teams skated to a 4-4 tie. Nikita Nikora with a goal and an assist for Dartmouth.After dropping seven of the previous eight games coming into the weekend, Wisconsin swept No. 18 Penn State with a 6-3 win on Saturday night as Quinn Finley scored his eighth of the season. No. 19 Quinnipiac beat Yale 4-1 with Mason Marcellus scoring twice. Bentley blanked American International 3-0, and Army West Point beat RIT 4-2. Niagara edged Holy Cross 3-2, and Air Force beat Mercyhurst 4-1 to earn a sweep - which I incorrectly reported it as a 1-0 loss last night. Yeah, knowledge is good, reading is better. Sacred Heart swept Robert Morris with a 6-3 win as Felix Trudeau scored twice. In the CCHA, St. Thomas beat Bowling Green 6-3, and Ferris State edged Lake Superior State 3-2. In ECAC action, Clarkson defeated Union 4-1, while Brown and Princeton tied 1-1, with Brown taking the shootout. RPI defeated St. Lawrence 3-2. In Hockey East, Northeastern beat New Hampshire in a shootout after a 1-1 tie. In the NCHC, Minnesota-Duluth routed Miami 7-2, and Arizona State earned its first NCHC win with a 3-2 victory over Omaha. Alaska-Anchorage beat Alaska 6-1 in Game 2 of the Governor’s Cup as Dylan Contreras scored twice. LIU beat Stonehill 4-2, and in exhibition, Augustana edged the USNTDP 3-2.In women’s action, No. 2 Ohio State handed No. 1 Wisconsin its first loss of the season with a 3-2 victory as Makenna Webster, Maddi Wheeler, and Kiara Zanon each scored. No. 3 Minnesota completed a sweep of No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth with a 3-2 win, featuring goals from three different players. No. 5 Colgate earned a 3-0 shutout over Harvard with - stop me if you’ve heard this before - Kristyna Kaltounkova and Elyssa Biederman scoring. No. 6 Clarkson defeated No. 9 St. Lawrence 2-0 behind goals from Anne Cherkowski and Haley Winn, while Julia Minotti recorded 27 saves for the shutout. Sofianna Sundelin scored in overtime to give No. 8 St. Cloud State a 3-2 victory over Minnesota State. No. 10 Cornell blanked Dartmouth 4-0 as four different players scored. No. 14 Boston University beat No. 11 Boston College 3-1 in the Battle of Comm Ave, with Sydney Healey netting her seventh of the season. No. 12 Penn State dominated Lindenwood 7-1, with Tessa Janecke scoring twice. No. 13 UConn shut out Merrimack 2-0. Yale defeated No. 15 Brown 4-1. Mercyhurst cruised past Robert Morris 5-0, while Syracuse edged RIT 1-0. New Hampshire defeated Holy Cross 2-0, and Northeastern blanked Maine 2-0. Vermont topped Providence in a shootout after a 0-0 tie. In NEWHA action, LIU beat Franklin Pierce 6-3, Stonehill shut out Post 3-0, Sacred Heart defeated St. Michael’s 4-1, and Assumption beat St. Anselm 3-1.
