It’s the #CollegeHockey Scoreboard Show for November 29, 2024. We got tournaments, we got upsets, we got shootouts … that don’t mean anything, except maybe to the goaltenders. No breakdowns, no analysis, it’s JUST. THE. SCORES. We’ll begin on the men’s side with tournament action, first in Belfast, Northern Ireland where No. 13 Boston U defeated Merrimack 6-2 in the Friendship Four opener in Belfast, led by Tristan Amonte’s two-goal performance. Notre Dame downed Harvard 5-2 in Belfast behind Blake Biondi’s two goals. It’ll be Boston University and Notre Dame in the final. In Lake Placid, No. 16 UMass Lowell blanked St. Lawrence 2-0 with goals from Dillon Bentley and Scout Truman at the Adirondack Winter Invitational. No. 10 Providence edged No. 20 Clarkson 3-2 in overtime, with Graham Gamache netting the game-winner to send the Friars to the championship game against the Riverhawks.No. 1 Michigan State shut out Lindenwood 4-0 with goals from four different players on 56 shots. Daniel Russell scored his eighth of the season, and Trey Augustine stopped 29 shots for the shutout as Sparty improved to 10-1. Alaska earned a shootout win over No. 3 Minnesota after a 1-1 tie at Mariucci, with Nicholas Grabko making 3 6 saves for the Nanooks. Minnesota outshot the Spacebears 37-20. No. 4 Boston College defeated No. 15 Dartmouth 5-3, handing the Big Green their first loss of the season. James Hagens scored twice, and Mike Posma added a powerplay goal late, while the Eagles secured two empty-netters in the third. Game of the night was No. 7 Western Michigan topped No. 6 Michigan 4-1 in the front half of a home-and-home series. Four different players scored for the Broncos, including Cam Knuble, who tallied his seventh of the year on an assist from goalie Cameron Rowe, who also made 26 saves. Princeton upset No. 12 Ohio State 3-1 behind two goals from Jake Manfre, giving the Tigers just their second win of the season. Bemidji State edged No. 14 North Dakota 2-1 on goals by Mitch Wolfe and Isa Parekh, setting up the back end of their home-and-home at The Ralph on Saturday. Robert Morris topped American International 4-1, Holy Cross dominated Sacred Heart 6-1, Lake Superior State beat St. Thomas 4-2, Michigan Tech shut out Bowling Green 3-0, and Augustana handled Northern Michigan 4-1. Brown defeated Air Force in a shootout after a 1-1 tie. Wisconsin cruised past Alaska-Anchorage 7-1 as Gavin Morrissey recorded two goals and two assists. UMass beat Army West Point 3-1, New Hampshire bested RIT 5-1, Union defeated Niagara 4-2, and LIU edged Yale 3-2.In women’s action, we too will start with tournament action in Nashville for the Smashville Showcase. No. 6 Clarkson edged St. Thomas 5-4 in overtime at the Smashville Showcase on Rhea Hicks’ game-winner with one second remaining, sending Clarkson to the finals against Merrimack, which stunned No. 12 Penn State 3-1, converting on three of their six total shots. There were 17 combined shots in the game. SEVEN-TEEN. TOTAL.At the Nutmeg Classic in Connecticut, No. 9 Quinnipiac rolled past host Sacred Heart 8-1, led by Kahlen Lamarche’s hat trick. Yale defeated No. 14 UConn 3-1, with Carina DiAntonio scoring twice to send Yale to the championship game against Quinnipiac.No. 1 Wisconsin overwhelmed Maine 9-0, with Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey, and Kirsten Simms each scoring twice. Edwards now has 16 goals this season as Wisconsin improved to 16-1. No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth shut out Vermont 4-0, with Eve Gascon stopping 19 shots. No. 5 Colgate defeated Syracuse 3-1 behind two goals from Kristyna Kaltounkova, who leads the nation with 17 goals, one ahead of Wisconsin’s Edwards. Union skated to a 2-2 tie with No. 8 St. Cloud State and won the shootout.
