from College Hockey Scoreboard Show · host Jason Bryant

It's the College Hockey Scoreboard Show for October 1, 2024. The only game on the docket was again with the women in Boston as host Boston University picked apart Merrimack 7-1. Tamara Giaquinto scored twice and added and assist and Lola Reid had a goal and two assists. Mari Pietersen with 16 saves in net.Nothing on the schedule until Friday, when we’ve got 17 women’s games - all of them non-conference - and one men’s exhibition game. That exhibition game pits UNLV at Lindenwood. Don’t think we’ll see any of the UNLV club players bolt in the early season. As far as the women’s schedule: The nation’s new No. 1 Wisconsin travels to face Boston College, while second-ranked Minnesota hosts Boston U. In a notable top-ten matchup, third-ranked Minnesota-Duluth will take on seventh-ranked Colgate. Additionally, fourth-ranked Ohio State faces eighth-ranked St. Lawrence in another key game, while fifth-ranked Clarkson is back in Vermont this weekend to take on the host Catamounts. Elsewhere, 12th-ranked Penn State visits ninth-ranked UConn, and 15th-ranked Mercyhurst heads West to face 11th-ranked St. Cloud State. Tenth-ranked Quinnipiac plays 13th-ranked Northeastern, while other games include Assumption at New Hampshire, Bemidji State at Robert Morris, LIU at Minnesota State, Post at St. Thomas, RIT at Union, RPI at Sacred Heart, St. Anselm at Holy Cross, St. Michael’s at Providence, and Stonehill at Syracuse. October 5 is the official start of the games that count on the men’s side, Top-ranked and returning national champion Denver travels to Alaska-Anchorage, while third-ranked Boston University hosts Holy Cross. Fourth-ranked Michigan State heads up to the U.P. to face Lake Superior State, and seventh-ranked Michigan will face Minnesota State in Ann Arbor. No. 12 Maine is set to host American International, while 14th-ranked UMass will visit Bentley. No. 18 Minnesota-Duluth welcomes Bemidji State, and 20th-ranked Arizona State plays Air Force at the Academy. Other games on the schedule include Bowling Green at Mercyhurst, Canisius at Clarkson, Colgate at UConn, Miami at Ferris State, Penn State at Alaska, and RIT at St. Lawrence. Exhibition games include Augustana at fifth-ranked North Dakota, sixth-ranked Minnesota at 16th-ranked St. Cloud State, and 10th-ranked Wisconsin visiting Nebraska-Omaha. Additional exhibitions include Briercrest College - it’s somewhere in Saskatchewan - at No. 11 Colorado College, 13th-ranked Providence at Union, the U.S. National Team Development Program’s U-18 Team at 17th-ranked Western Michigan, Manitoba at St. Thomas, Northern Michigan at Michigan Tech, Sacred Heart at Merrimack, Simon Fraser at LIU, Stonehill at New Hampshire, and UNLV (ACHA) at Lindenwood. This show is new and it has a distinct reason for existing - just the scores in a quick and dirty format.
