Biggest game in terms of rankings came in East Lansing where #2 Boston College shut out #4 Michigan State 3-0, with three second-period goals, including the first two of the season for Will Vote. The biggest upset though came in Madison as Lindenwood stunned #9 Wisconsin 4-2, with Jaeden Mercier scoring twice to secure the biggest win in the program’s short Division I history and the first at Lindenwood for new coach Bill Muckalt. #5 Minnesota dominated Air Force 7-1 at the IceBreaker in Las Vegas, with Connor Kurth leading the way with a hat trick and Ryan Chesley adding two goals.  #15 Omaha beat #14 UMass 3-2 in OT, with Zach Urdahl netting the game-winner in the IceBreaker opener. #10 Michigan topped Arizona State 4-1, thanks to a hat trick from Garrett Shifsky. #12 Colorado College survived a scare against Northern Michigan, winning 4-3 in overtime after Noah Laba scored 21 seconds into OT.  #16 St. Cloud State defeated Bemidji State 4-3, as freshman Thor Byfuglien scored his first collegiate goal, the game-winner, and Austin Burnevik scored twice. #17 Western Michigan handled Ferris State 4-1, while Merrimack shut out #19 Minnesota State 1-0, with Max Lundgren making 27 saves. #20 Notre Dame beat St. Lawrence 4-1, led by two goals from Cole Knuble. Mercyhurst topped RIT 4-2, and Holy Cross edged UConn 4-3. Michigan Tech defeated Alaska 2-1, and Miami slipped past Alaska-Anchorage 3-2. AIC and Ohio State played to a 3-3 tie, with AIC winning the shootout. Augustana blanked LIU 4-0, and Minnesota-Duluth beat UMass Lowell 4-2. Clarkson defeated Niagara 4-2, RPI won 6-3 over Canisius, and Colgate edged Sacred Heart 6-5 in overtime, with Daniel Panetta scoring the OT winner. Union beat Stonehill 4-2, and Vermont and St. Thomas tied 5-5, with UVM winning in a shootout. In exhibition action, Lake Superior State dominated the USNTDP 6-1, while Robert Morris beat Simon Fraser 2-1. On the women’s side, #4 Ohio State edged #2 Minnesota 4-3, with two power-play goals, including the game-winner by Jenna Buglioni. #5 Clarkson shut out Robert Morris 4-0, and #7 Colgate cruised past RIT 5-1. #8 St. Lawrence blanked #15 Mercyhurst 3-0, while #11 St. Cloud State needed just one unassisted, shorthanded goal from Alice Sauriol to defeat Bemidji State 1-0. #12 Penn State took down Union 4-2, thanks to two third-period goals from Tessa Janecke to break a 2-2 tie. #9 UConn handled New Hampshire 5-1, and #13 Northeastern shut out Boston University 4-0. Merrimack topped Vermont 3-2, while Providence needed overtime to defeat Maine 3-2 with Audrey Knapp scoring the game-winner. Franklin Pierce beat Assumption 4-1, and LIU blanked Stonehill 2-0. Post cruised to a 4-0 win over St. Michael’s, and St. Anselm edged Sacred Heart 4-3. RPI scored twice in the third period, including the game-winner by Ellie Kaiser, to beat Syracuse 2-1.
