from College Hockey Scoreboard Show · host Jason Bryant

It's the #CollegeHockey Scoreboard Show for October 6, 2024. Sunday’s action had 16 games on the schedule, one on the women’s side and 15 on the men’s side. Of those 15, seven of them are for realsies. Here’s your roundup. No analysis, no breakdowns, maybe a few facts, but mainly, JUST THE SCORES. In women’s action, #2 Minnesota defeated Boston University 5-2, with four different players scoring to secure the sweep for the Gophers. Abbey Murphy tends to get mentioned a lot with Gopher highlights - her penalty shot in this game is one I’d recommend you dial up and find. Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. Over on the men’s side, #1 Denver completed a sweep of Alaska-Anchorage with a 4-1 victory, as four different Pioneers found the back of the net. #16 St. Cloud State edged budding rival St. Thomas 1-0.  Ryan Rosborough scored the lone goal and Isak Posch made 34 saves in the shutout. Union topped Army West Point 4-3 in overtime, with John Prokop scoring the OT winner for the Garnet Chargers. St. Lawrence came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Canisius 5-2 thanks to two goals from Drake Burgin. Penn State blanked Alaska 5-0, with Reece Laubach netting two goals as the Nittany Lions completed the sweep. RIT defeated Clarkson 3-2, with three different players scoring for the Tigers. Stonehill made history with a 3-2 overtime win over Merrimack, as Devlin O’Brien scored the OT game-winner. Merrimack’s student manager Spencer Marquis made 22 saves in his first competitive action since high school, stepping in as an emergency backup goaltender. It’s a helluva story and he almost pulled it off. It’s just Stonehill’s third win against a Division I opponent since the school reclassified to Division I and elevated its men’s hockey program to a full-fledged D1 sport. In exhibition play, #20 Northeastern beat #8 Quinnipiac 4-2, RPI beat #14 UMass 2-1 in overtime, #15 Minnesota-Duluth rolled over Manitoba from, you guessed it, Manitoba 7-2, Lindenwood shut out UNLV’s club team 6-0, Vermont blanked McGill of Ontario 5-0, Ohio State edged Niagara 3-2 in overtime, Sacred Heart topped Simon Fraser of British Columbia 7-3, and UMass-Lowell outlasted Bentley 6-5. That’s your College Hockey Scoreboard for October 6, 2024.The Sota Pod is dedicated to covering anything & EVERYTHING when it comes to hockey or craft beer in the great state of Minnesota. The Sota Pod (Apple Podcasts): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-sota-pod/id1495602444YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thesotapod
