from College Hockey Scoreboard Show · host Jason Bryant

It's the #CollegeHockey Scoreboard Show for October 8, 2024. Just two games on the schedule and both were involving ranked women’s teams from the Northeast. Here’s your roundup. No analysis, no breakdowns, maybe a few facts, but mainly, JUST THE SCORES. Eighth-ranked St. Lawrence defeated Syracuse 4-2, sparked by three second-period goals, including Aly McLeod’s third of the season, lifting the Saints to victory. No. 10 Quinnipiac edged Providence 1-0, with Maddy Samoskevich scoring the game’s only goal - and it came on the power play  - with just about three and a half minutes to go in the game. All three of Samoskevich’s goals this season have come on the power play. Felicia Frank made 23 saves in goal to secure the shutout for the Bobcats. There’s nothing on the schedule for Wednesday, but Thursday’s women’s action sees Holy Cross host Boston College. There’s one men’s game scheduled, but it’s an exhibition as Bowling Green hosts Robert Morris. Here’s a look at Friday’s schedule and we’ll lead with the women. The big one around the country and in the WCHA is in Columbus where second-ranked Minnesota will face fourth-ranked Ohio State. Also in the WCHA, No. 11 St. Cloud State travels to Bemidji State. Minnesota State is set to take on St. Thomas. In Hockey East, No. 9 Connecticut faces off against New Hampshire, Boston University visits No. 13 Northeastern, Merrimack travels to Vermont, and Providence plays at Maine. In NEWHA play, Franklin Pierce is at Assumption, LIU visits Stonehill, Post heads to St. Michael’s, and St. Anselm faces Sacred Heart. In non-conference matchups, Robert Morris visits No. 5 Clarkson, No. 7 Colgate is on the road against RIT, and No. 15 Mercyhurst faces No. 8 St. Lawrence. No. 12 Penn State travels to Union, and RPI takes on Syracuse. On the men’s side of things, it’s a top-five battle as No. 2 Boston College travels to No. 4 Michigan State. The last time the Spartans hosted the Eagles was back in November of 2014 - it was also the last time the Spartans beat the Eagles. BC’s won all three meetings since including both games last season. Three ranked teams are in Las Vegas for the IceBreaker at the Orleans Arena - No. 14 UMass opens up with No. 15 Omaha, followed by Air Force taking on fifth-ranked Minnesota. Lindenwood is on the road against No. 9 Wisconsin, and No. 10 Michigan heads to the desert to face Arizona State. No. 12 Colorado College hosts Northern Michigan. No. 16 St. Cloud State hosts Bemidji State on the front-end of a home-and-home series with the Beavers, while No. 17 Western Michigan takes on Ferris State in the mitten. These two teams have met 154 times - not this season, that would be a record. No. 19 Minnesota State hosts Merrimack, and No. 20 Notre Dame visits St. Lawrence. In an early-season Atlantic Hockey America - remember, full names people - RIT visits Mercyhurst. Non-conference games include UConn at Holy Cross, Alaska at Michigan Tech, Alaska-Anchorage at Miami, American International at Ohio State, LIU at Augustana, Minnesota-Duluth at UMass Lowell, Niagara at Clarkson, RPI at Canisius, Sacred Heart at Colgate, Union at Stonehill, and Vermont at St. Thomas. In exhibition action, Lake Superior State takes on the USNTDP, and Simon Fraser from British Columbia faces Robert MorrisThat’s your College Hockey Scoreboard for October 8, 2024 and a look at the days ahead. The Sota Pod is dedicated to covering anything & EVERYTHING when it comes to hockey or craft beer in the great state of Minnesota. The Sota Pod (Apple Podcasts): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-sota-pod/id1495602444YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thesotapod
