Headlined by 2024 MLB Draft pick Chase Burns, the organization continues to showcase one of baseball’s deepest pipelines of young talent. Alfredo Duno Powers Dayton Dragons Offense Top Reds catching prospect Alfredo Duno erupted at the plate with three consecutive home runs during a dominant week for the Dayton Dragons. The 20-year-old slugger appears to be regaining momentum after a slow start to the season, flashing the elite power that has made him one of the organization’s most exciting prospects. Duno’s resurgence came alongside impressive performances from teammates including Kian Vu, who extended his on-base streak to 28 games, and Carlos Sanchez, who continues to hit at a high level and could soon earn a promotion to Double-A. Reds Catching Depth Becoming Organizational Strength The Reds’ minor league system is quickly building impressive depth behind the plate. Alongside Duno, prospects such as Ryan McCrystal, Jacob Friend, and breakout ACL performer Hervin Murillo are drawing attention. Murillo earned “Prospect of the Week” honors after an incredible 11-for-19 stretch that included a cycle, multiple extra-base hits, and continued defensive development. The young catcher has rapidly climbed prospect rankings and may not remain in the Arizona Complex League much longer. Edwin Arroyo and Noelvi Marte Continue Triple-A Surge At Triple-A Louisville, Edwin Arroyo continues to prove he is nearing MLB readiness. Arroyo already has nine home runs this season — doubling last year’s total — while also showcasing improved versatility defensively. Meanwhile, Noelvi Marte turned in another strong week offensively, fueling speculation that a return to Cincinnati could happen soon. Marte’s improved plate discipline and production in Triple-A remain encouraging signs for the Reds organization. Austin Hendrick and Carlos Jorge Shine in Chattanooga The Chattanooga Lookouts saw strong performances from both Austin Hendrick and Carlos Jorge. Hendrick continues to show signs of offensive growth after several developmental seasons, while Jorge’s consistent hitting and elite defensive ability in center field are strengthening his case for a Triple-A promotion. Reds Pitching Pipeline Showing Promise Several young arms impressed throughout the week, including: Ty Floyd, who returned from injury with a strong rehab outing in the ACL. Starlin Torres, who delivered his best Daytona start of the season. Jose Acuna and Jonathan Harmon, both of whom turned in quality Double-A performances.
