Circle Of Friends: Angie Sowle - Listening For The Call

We are thrilled to welcome Angie to the Circle of Friends!  Angie is the CEO of the Springfield YMCA and also serves as President of the Illinois State Alliance of YMCAs. Angie began her career with the YMCA organization in high school working as a lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons. After an internship during college with the Y, Angie chose the YMCA as her career. Angie began working there right after college and outside of a break from 2003 to 2011 as a stay-at-home mom, she has spent her career as an employee, advocate, and leader for the Springfield YMCA. Under Angie’s tenure, the Springfield YMCA has grown dramatically including the construction of two state-of-the-art facilities, as well as expansion outside of Springfield. She has held many positions at the YMCA and served on the Alliance Board for the last 4 years. Angie has been nominated for numerous awards within the YMCA, most recently the Illinois State Alliance of YMCAs Leadership Legacy Award in 2023.
