Civil War Artillery Shells Destroyed In Controlled Blast After Discovery In Spain

from NTA Video Stories

Villores, Spain – Guardia Civil bomb disposal specialists carried out a controlled destruction operation after 63 projectiles from the Spanish Civil War were discovered in the municipality of Villores. The ammunition was found on August 6, 2026, by a resident carrying out work on his property. The discovery included 75 mm artillery shells that still contained explosive charges. Video shows the specialists handling the projectiles at the site before carrying out the controlled disposal operation. The footage shows the munitions on the ground and technicians working to neutralize them. The Guardia Civil’s GEDEX unit recovered around 63–68 projectiles before destroying them in the controlled operation. Authorities warn that old ammunition can remain extremely dangerous even when it appears inactive or deteriorated. Anyone who discovers explosive devices or old ammunition is advised not to touch or manipulate them, to mark the area from a safe distance and immediately notify security forces.
