Clearing Up Common Misconceptions about HIV and AIDS

More than 1.2 million people in the US are living with an HIV infection. It is estimated that 1 in 8 do not know they are infected. With 50,000 new infections each year, some doctors point to a lack of testing and misconceptions about the virus as a serious problem. How does the virus spread? Who is susceptible? Can HIV-positive women still have children? For World AIDS Day, The Scope speaks with Dr. Adam Spivak, an HIV specialist, about the common misconceptions about HIV/AIDS.
