CM-015 - WCF 2.3: The Holy Trinity

from Confessional Moments · host confessionalmoments

WCF 2.3 – The Holy Trinity In the unity of the Godhead there be three persons, of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son. (WCF 2.3) In this episode, Pastor Tim unfolds the majesty of the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — one in essence and three in persons. Though the word “Trinity” never appears in Scripture, its truth is seen clearly at the baptism of Christ. Drawing from the Westminster, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds and R. C. Sproul’s Essential Truths of the Christian Faith, Pastor Tim shows why the Trinity is not a doctrine on which Christians may “agree to disagree.” To deny it is to deny the faith. Pastor Tim warns against modalism, tritheism, and misleading analogies, and then turns to the comfort of knowing the God who is three in one — the Father who loves, the Son who redeems, and the Spirit who indwells His people.
