Confessional Moments — WCF 3.4: A Fixed Number in the Mind of God “These angels and men, thus predestinated and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed; and their number is so certain and definite, that it cannot be either increased or diminished.” —Westminster Confession of Faith, 3.4 WCF 3.4 gives one of the most stabilizing truths in all of Scripture: God’s decree of election is particular, unchangeable, and certain. In this episode, Pastor Tim explains why the number of the elect—both angels and men—is fixed in the eternal mind of God and cannot be increased or diminished. We explore how this doctrine protects the believer’s assurance, magnifies God’s sovereignty, and grounds the entire work of redemption in the unchanging purpose of His will.
