On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back breaking down how the former Trojan football players fared in the 2023 NFL Draft. Day one of the draft was an exciting one for sure with three quarterbacks selected in the first four picks and two running backs going before the first wide receiver was selected. At pick No. 20 Seattle selected Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, starting a historic 4-pick run of wide receivers that included Minnesota snagging USC wide receiver Jordan Addison with the 23rd pick.With the selection of Addison, USC has had a first-round pick in the last four drafts and in six of the last seven years. This is the 22nd consecutive year -- the longest active streak for any college -- a Trojan has been selected in the top three rounds.On the second day of the draft two more former USC football players came off the board. In the second round with the 54th selection the Los Angeles Chargers picked defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu, allowing the nation's sack leader to stay home in LA to start his NFL career. Standout USC cornerback Mekhi Blackmon was taken with the No. 102 overall pick to close out the third round. He joins former teammate Jordan Addison in Minnesota.The third day of the draft had one more Trojan go off the board. The Baltimore Ravens selected Andrew Vorhees No. 229 overall, using their seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on the powerful offensive lineman who tore his ACL during the NFL Combine.Several players also signed as undrafted free agents after the draft. Defensive lineman Brandon Pili signed with the Miami Dolphins, offensive lineman Bobby Haskins signed with the Chicago Bears, wide receiver Terrell Bynum signed with the Los Angeles Chargers and running back Travis Dye signed with the New York Jets.
