Coach Harvey Hyde on USC's Alamo Bowl bid the No. 1 recruiting class

from Peristyle Podcast - USC Trojan Football Discussion · host USCFootball.com - Ryan Abraham, 247Sports, USC, USC Trojans, USC football, College Football

On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans accepting a bid to play in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on December 30, taking on the 8-4 TCU Horned Frogs from the Big 12 Conference. Coach Hyde discusses why playing in these bowl games is important for the development of the team, even though he wanted the Trojans to take on a higher ranked opponent following the 9-3 season. The guys also discuss how head coach Lincoln Riley was able to secure the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the country, holding off a late push by Oregon, and why this was such an important development for this Trojan football program that is trying to get back to elite status. Coach feels USC should be in the upper echelon of high school recruiting each and every season, and this 2026 class is a great way to get the ball rolling in that direction again. They also take a look at some of the USC football players that declared they will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in January and what sort of impact those departures could have. They give their thoughts on the College Football Playoff field including rival Notre Dame being left out and coach talks about why he feels it was a bad move for the Irish to skip out on a bowl game.
