After his own athletic career, Jianping Ma began coaching. He became the head coach for Team Anhui and Team Zhuhai China. He is the former head coach for Seychelles national team (1992 - 1994) and former head coach for the USA university national team (2003 - 2007). Currently, Coach Ma is the head coach for Lindenwood University, Missouri.
