Social Isolation and Loneliness Stat: Roughly 67% of college students reported feeling "very lonely" at some point during the academic year. (ACHA, 2023) 5. Substance Abuse (Alcohol) Stat: Approximately 30% of students reported engaging in binge drinking (5+ drinks in one sitting for men, 4+ for women) in the past two weeks. (Monitoring the Future Survey, 2023) 6. Prescription Drug Misuse Stat: Around 14% of students admitted to using prescription stimulants (like Adderall) non-medically. (National Institute on Drug Abuse - NIDA, 2023) 7. Marijuana Use Stat: Over 40% of college students used marijuana in the past year, with 11% reporting daily or near-daily use.
