In Italia beviamo meno, lo sappiamo. Negli Stati Uniti invece, sbocco tradizionale per il nostro vino, la domanda cresce e le prospettive per il vino italiano sono molto interessanti. Per questo c’è grande interesse per il mercato USA. Ma cosa sta davvero succedendo, quali sono i vini italiani di successo e quali sono i trend, come si entra in un mercato maturo e così competitivo?Ne ho parlato con Gabriele d’Errico, che è italiano e conosce molto bene quel mercato perché è Italian Market Specialist in Florida per il Winebow group. Gabriele ci aiuta a capire come vendere vino italiano negli Stati Uniti.La domanda e la curiosità per il vino italiano di qualità sta crescendo. Importare il vino italiano in Usa non è diffcile, altra questione è venderlo. Un consiglio ai produttori? Trovatevi un brand ambassador in USA.Nell’intervista a Gabriele D’Errico si parla tra l’altro di:Gli americani hanno un grosso amore e rispetto per l’Italia che si riflette sul nostro cibo, sulla moda, sul vino.Gli americani in Usa si stanno stufando dei soliti vitigni internazionali.Negli ultimi 2-3 anni in Usa i consumatori cercano la qualità del vino italiano. Ci sono gruppi di consumatori molto curiosi di cose nuove, gruppi di amici che si ritrovano, fanno blind tasting, sono più curiosi dei consumatori italiani.La Francia ha un problema sul mercato americano legato al prezzo del suo vino.Il consumatore americano non riconosce il brand ma il tipo di vino. Per esempio: Amarone, Barolo, Brunello, Pinot grigio, Prosecco, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.La ragione per cui il pinot grigio è uno dei vini italiani più venduti in Usa e il problema della dimensione aziendale.Un errore tipico. La competizione è feroce ma non giocare sul prezzo col ribasso della qualità. L’errore che hanno fatto i tedeschi con il Riesling, abbassando prezzo, fino a 7 dollari, ma anche la qualità rendendo poi difficile la collocazione dei prodotti più tipici. Anche il Chianti Classico ha avuto questo tipo di problema e oggi ci sono oscillazioni tra 15 e 30 dollari.Un consiglio per un produttore: affidarsi a importatore nazionale o piccoli importatori per ogni Stato. Il vero problema è la costruzione del brand. E’ fondamentale un brand ambassador. I manager di ristoranti e rivenditori importanti vogliono conoscere e avere relazioni frequenti. Anche il produttore deve fare la sua parte.Come sta cambiando l’organizzazione del mercato del vino in Usa tra leggi ereditate dal proibizionismo e la regola dei tre livelli che ormai non vale più – il The three-tier system (importatore / distributore e rivenditore non possono essere la stessa persona).
