Consider the route of YHWH’s Word.

from Staying Real About Faith & Family · host Host Linda Goldfarb

Join our conversation!Welcome to the Let’s Journey Together.Let’s consider the route of YHWH’s Word. As a child, my parents would read out loud from the Bible. I’d hear the “word” and go on about my day, maybe repeating a verse here and there, if it had a rhythm to it. When I went to church, the Pastor would read out loud from the Bible. I’d squirm in my seat, especially if the pews were cold from lack of enough body heat, and hum one of the songs I heard earlier as I colored on the bulletin. On occasion, I’d look up when a faint amen was muttered from someone sitting close to me. In Sunday School, (a smaller class time when moms and dads from the church read Bible stories out loud and created games to help me and my friends remember God’s “word”), I’d strive to repeat to my teachers and classmates the Scripture verse we were to memorize, in order to get a star next to my name. I strove in earnest to get those stars. And stars I received. As I grew, and our family moved, again and again (military life), we continued attending church, “every time the doors were open.” I started singing in the children’s choir, then grew into youth choir. I’d find myself singing worship songs and praise music out loud, a lot. Graduating from high school and then entering college, my church attendance waned a bit. I opened the Bible on occasion, read the “word” to myself, and continued singing praise music when I was alone.I married at 18. Moved away from my family. Rarely opened a Bible. Church? Yeah, didn’t happen. Encountered a life filled with hurt, fear, frustration, doubt, and loneliness. Divorced at 28. Single mom with two children.Opened my Bible (which I had been doing for quite a few years already, seeking the “Why?”). Turned on praise music in the house. Began singing out loud—again. Went back to church. Fell on my knees before God—crying out in the wilderness. Scripture came flooding into my mind. Promises.Truth.Hope.We read in Isaiah 55:10, “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”The seed of Truth planted in me as a child did not return empty. Truth is faithful to grow when individuals sow. Thank you, to those who fed into my life. Full circle through the years, again and again, the truth that continued, and continued, and continued. son powerful and so needed. What do you recall about the route of YHWH’s Word in your life? How has Truth succeeded? What purpose of God has risen up in you? Let’s journey together.Praise be Your name, YHWH. Your Word never fails. Your Word never returns empty.Seeds sown in earnest always sprout fruit of life.I’ll not judge. I’ll not scorn. I’ll not worry.Help me to be the breadgiver to Your children, as so many have fed into me.Hallelujah. Amen.Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves; do what it says. James 1:22May YHWH bless you, keep you, and guide you in all you do, until next time.
