Constance S - Remaining Sober in a World that Celebrates Alcohol
from RECO12 · host Justin B / Constance S
Raised in the 1960’s and 70’s in Manhattan by parents who worshipped at the altar of the never ending party, Constance S’s alcoholism was a result of both nature and nurture. Having her first black out at 14 and having the Irish side of her family riddled with alcoholism, she knew her drinking days had an expiration date. And so Constance drank and snorted blow with a vengeance until she had reached jer limit of shame, bad decisions, holes in her memory and the detritus that we who are alcoholics have swirling around us. And so now, with 38 years of hard fought and hard won recovery under her belt, cobbled together one day at a time, she wouldn’t change any of it as she considers herself one of the most blessed humans on the planet, a truly grateful alcoholic. In this meeting she shares how she stays sober in a world that celebrates alcohol.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path.
