Contrary Passages? - 220409

Jesus told wailing mourners that Jairus’s daughter was not dead, but sleeping—then He raised her from the dead. When Lazarus was dead, Jesus told His disciples that Lazarus sleeps, and He was going to wake him up—in perhaps the most spectacular public miracle of His ministry, Jesus then raised Lazarus from the dead. These stories seem to be solid proof of Jesus teaching death is like a sleep. There are, however, other sections of scripture, which are often used to advocate for a ‘sleepless’ death and doctrines of an immortal soul.
