Conversations with Friends: Benjamin Weinberg

from I'll Go First

In this episode, I’m joined by someone I’ve known for a long time — Benjamin, the younger brother of an old friend, who I’ve had the joy of watching grow into the person he is today. We’re celebrating two and a half years of sobriety, and the journey it took to get here.Benjamin shares what it was like growing up in NYC, surrounded by social scenes where partying was just part of the norm — especially in high school and college. Like many, he used that lifestyle to cope with the harder stuff under the surface. We talk about what it looked like for him to get sober, how he navigated that decision, and how it’s helped him reconnect with who he really is — in his own life, and in his relationships. We talk about the balancing act: being sober and still deeply connected to community, friendship, dating, family. That middle ground where he’s learning to belong again — to himself first, and then to the world around him.Benjamin gives us real life experience of making a shift, doing the work, all while keeping humility and curiosity at the forefront. For those who felt inspired by this conversation or feel they need added support, please feel free to reach out to Benjamin at [email protected] Hosted on Acast.
