Country stars showed up and showed out at the American Music Awards | Music City Minute

The American Music Awards were held in Las Vegas over the weekend and country stars were aplenty. Those who sashayed down the red carpet included Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, Megan Moroney, Zac Brown as well as Dan + Shay. One of the things that makes the American Music Awards special is that it is the largest fan-voted award show. So, winners are not chosen by a committee, rather, they are chosen by fans. In the country music categories, Post Malone won Favorite Male Country Artist, while Beyoncé won Favorite Female Country Artist. Dan + Shay took home the award for Favorite Country Music Duo or Group and Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” won Favorite Country Album. Lastly, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s hit collaboration, “I Had Some Help,” won the Favorite Country Song award. Two of country music’s heavy hitters graced the stage for performances at the award show – Lainey Wilson sang her brand new song “Somewhere Over Laredo,” while Blake Shelton stepped into the spotlight to perform his new single “Stay Country or Die Tryin’.”   I’m Sheena, and that’s your Music City Minute.
