COVID-19 y las interleucinas de Dublín y Boston.

Una reciente aportación debida a los esfuerzos por investigar la enfermedad COVID-19 ha permitido establecer una nueva medida que permite conseguir un cierto grado de predicción sobre la evolución clínica de cada paciente de COVID-19. Este parámetro se ha denominado la puntuación de Dublín-Boston. Esta puntuación se consigue determinando los niveles de dos interleucinas (también llamadas citocinas) en la sangre, la IL-6 y la IL-10, y calculando su relación. Cuanto más elevada sea esta, peor es el pronóstico de evolución de la enfermedad y más probable es que el paciente tenga que ser ingresado en cuidados intensivos y necesite ventilación mecánica.
