Creedence Clearwater Revival Woodstock

An apparently sleepy performance by the Grateful Dead and a firm veto by singer John Fogerty resulted in an undocumented performance at Woodstock by legendary rock outfit Creedence Clearwater Revival. The California based rock outfit was formed in 1965, and after a few shuffles within the band, the lineup consisted of lead guitarist and lyricist John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. They are best known for hit songs on their recorded albums. From the years of 1969 to 1970, CCR ruled the rock charts with their “swamp rock” style. Their second album “Bayou Country” reached #7 on the Billboard charts. From that album, the single “Proud Mary” reached #2 on the Billboard chart and would later be their most covered song. Mere weeks after “Proud Mary” was released “Bad Moon Rising” was released and hit #2 on the charts. Their third album “Green River” was released and the title track hit #2 on the charts.
