La poesía persiguió a Marcel Proust a lo largo de toda su vida; pero, si empezó escribiendo y publicando en alguna revista durante sus años de estudiante, no tardó en derivar hacia la narrativa, que en sus inicios quedó marcada por esos afanes líricos. Y en su primer libro, recopilación de relatos, no duda en incluir, no sólo ocho poemas dedicados a pintores y músicos, sino textos que más que relatos son poemas en prosa en la estela de Baudelaire. Ese primer libro editado en 1896, Los placeres y los días[1], viene envuelto por el aura de fin de siglo que acaba de contemplar la disolución del simbolismo y se adentra por una de sus derivaciones: un modernismo difuso del que va a librarse la rigurosa experimentación de Stéphane Mallarmé. El autor de Un coup de dés ejercerá sobre Proust una influencia que va más allá y más acá de la poesía: alguno de sus poemas actúa sobre su vida personal –en 1914, por ejemplo, promete a Alfred Agostinelli regalarle un aeroplano en el que hará grabar el soneto «Le Cigne»–, y sobre su obra mayor, A la busca del tiempo perdido, donde el Narrador trufa sus cartas con fragmentos de ese poema citado, de «Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui[2]» y de «M’introduire dans ton histoire».

Biography John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie, along with Charlie Parker, ushered in the era of Be-Bop in the American jazz tradition. He was born Cheraw, South Carolina, and was the youngest of nine children. He began playing piano at the age of four and received a music scholarship to the Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina. Most noted for his trademark "swollen cheeks", Gillespie admitted to copying the style of trumpeter Roy Eldridge early in his career. He replaced Eldridge in the 'Teddy Hill' Band after Eldridge's departure. He eventually began experimenting and creating his own style which would eventually come to the attention of Mario Bauza, the Godfather of Afro-Cuban jazz who was then a member of the Cap Calloway Orchestra, joining Calloway in 1939, Gillespie was fired after two years when he cut a portion of the Calloway's buttocks with a knife after Calloway accused him of throwing spitballs (the two men later became lifelong friends and often retold this story with great relish until both of their deaths). http://www.dizzygillespie.com/

An apparently sleepy performance by the Grateful Dead and a firm veto by singer John Fogerty resulted in an undocumented performance at Woodstock by legendary rock outfit Creedence Clearwater Revival. The California based rock outfit was formed in 1965, and after a few shuffles within the band, the lineup consisted of lead guitarist and lyricist John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. They are best known for hit songs on their recorded albums. From the years of 1969 to 1970, CCR ruled the rock charts with their “swamp rock” style. Their second album “Bayou Country” reached #7 on the Billboard charts. From that album, the single “Proud Mary” reached #2 on the Billboard chart and would later be their most covered song. Mere weeks after “Proud Mary” was released “Bad Moon Rising” was released and hit #2 on the charts. Their third album “Green River” was released and the title track hit #2 on the charts.

Nació en la Ciudad de México, el 14 de enero de 1920, en la calle de La Soledad en el barrio de La Merced. Murió el 5 de agosto de 1987. Talking Heads were a band of smart, self-conscious white musicians intrigued by the rhythms and spirit of black music. They drew on funk, classical minimalism, and African rock to create some of the most adventurous, original, and danceable music to emerge from new wave — a movement Talking Heads outlasted and transcended in their accomplishment and influence. David Byrne and Chris Frantz met at the Rhode Island School of Design, where they were part of a quintet called, variously, the Artistics and the Autistics. With Tina Weymouth, Frantz's girlfriend, they shared an apartment in New York and formed Talking Heads as a trio in 1975; they played their first shows at CBGB that June. Their music was never conventional punk rock; it was more delicate and contrapuntal, and their early sets included covers of the Sixties bubblegum group the 1910 Fruitgum Company. Jerry Harrison, a Harvard alumnus who had been a Modern Lover with Jonathan Richman until 1974 and had also backed singer/songwriter Elliott Murphy, completed the band in 1977. Talking Heads toured Europe with the Ramones before recording their first album, which included "Psycho Killer," a tightly wound curiosity (and killer song) that Byrne delivered in wild-eyed yelp. The album reached the Top 100, and every subsequent album reached the U.S. Top 40.
