Current Events Raw: ICE, Politics, Racism & Media Spin | Beyond Nrml

In this unfiltered episode of Beyond Nrml w/ Mya Lamis, I respond to a rude comment from a stranger — who turned out to be **my cousin — and then talk about what’s really weighing on my heart. I shared why I feel overwhelmed but not surprised by what’s happening in America and unpacked a series of current events with honesty and context. ✨ In this episode we discuss: A real conversation with someone in my comments — and how we agreed to disagree How ICE and federal immigration agents are being criticized for use of force, including the death of Minneapolis resident Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse shot by Border Patrol officers during an enforcement operation in Minnesota in January 2026 How law enforcement practices that many see today feel like a historical continuation of racist policing Why the media spin often contradicts the reality people personally witness How society responds differently to injustice depending on politics The importance of building financial freedom as a way to protect communities Supporting each other as we learn new skills without breaking the bank Why people tend to respect brands and images more than individuals Supporting local businesses and valuing what you do How people sometimes choose comforting narratives over truth The state of America, racism, and the essential role Black people play in society 💭 “I may be overwhelmed, but I’m not surprised — and that’s part of what we have to talk about.” This episode blends personal reflection with real-world issues affecting the country today. 🎧 Available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Podbean #BeyondNrml #MyaLamis #CurrentEvents #SocialCommentary #RacismInAmerica #ICEControversy #AlexPretti #MediaSpin #BlackVoicesMatter #PoliticalDiscussion #FinancialFreedom #SupportBlackBusiness #JusticePodcast
