Daily Bible Reading Day 42 - Isaiah 50, 51, & 52 and Mark 12
from Words Of Life · host Adam Kitt
Today's daily bible reading comes from the book of Isaiah chapters 50, 51, & 52 followed by the book of Mark chapter 12. Isaiah chapters 50-52 definitely have a different feel as they are leading up to what could arguably be the most famous chapter in the bible, Isaiah 53. In Mark chapter 12 we get another collection of conversations that Jesus is having with different people. Beginning with the parable of the tenant farmers, Jesus tells this story about a man who had some farm property that he leased out to tenants. The tenants decide that they don't want to respect his ownership and refuse to give the owner his proceeds. He sends servant after servant who are rejected, or killed and finally he sends his son. They kill the son as well assuming that they would be able to claim the property as their own... Jesus wasn't telling stories about rental law, no, he was trying to get people to realize that the people of Israel (the Jews) were those tenants. The servants He sent were the prophets, and the Son is Jesus himself. While not every detail about a parable will have a direct correlation to actual real-life events or people, there are certainly a lot in this one.
