iPhone users users may have recently received alerts that their passwords have been compromised. Those using Google may have also received something similar recently.
Owner and managing director of Vertech services, Daniel Watson urges people to take these alerts seriously.
He told Francesca Rudkin that many websites can or have been comprised, so if you get one of these alerts it means you need to change that password not only on that website but also on any others where you use the same or similar passwords.
The reason for this Watson explains is because automated scripts are used to detect these passwords and log into people’s accounts. Worse case scenario, he says, would be them accessing and emptying your bank account.
He also has some advice for how to create passwords that aren’t easy to hack. He suggests stringing 3-4 random words together that create a memorable picture in your mind. His example, ‘flying cheese pizza.”
