Danny English of CommuniTree Initiative in his natural environment This week This is Rammy interviews Danny English of The CommuniTree Initiative. Having grown up in Ramsbottom, there are very few places that Danny doesn’t know about, but when it came to finding a place for his community project (The CommuniTree Initiative) he found it wasn’t quite so straightforward as he might have expected. Danny spent lots of time visiting areas of local woods and parks, but nothing quite felt right, that was until a local member of the Village Community Group in Summerseat was able to show him The Island, which just fit in perfectly with what Danny envisaged his project to be. Since living in New Hampshire in America, Danny got a real passion for the outdoors, likely due to the environment he found himself living in, Pine woods with a lake. Enough to make anyone think about their own connections to nature. Danny doesn’t just feel that people should be getting back to nature more, he also feels that just having children playing out more, and people getting to know their local neighbours is all part of his perfect picture. He’s starting with one small step, that’s getting people back in touch with nature, but he hopes that this will start a snowball effect in which more people are ditching the Playstation in favour of the Play-Park.
