Danny Heinsohn the founder of My Hometown Heroes, a national scholarship fund for college bound cancer survivors enrolled in universities, community colleges, and trade schools. Their mission is to help bridge the gap between cancer and college, one scholarship at a time. Every year there are over 77,000 young adults between the ages of 15 and 39 years old who are diagnosed with cancer. And more alarming is the fact that according to statistics released in January 2025 by the American Cancer Society, which found that cancer incidence rates in women under 50 are now 82% higher than their male counterparts.
