World Bee Day- Why May 20th?

Established by the United Nations in 2017, World Bee Day falls annually on May 20th. It serves as a reminder of the critical role bees and other pollinators play in sustaining our ecosystems. But why May 20th? This date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer in beekeeping and an advocate for modern beekeeping techniques in the 18th century. Anton Janša, born in Slovenia in 1734, was raised in a family of beekeepers. He revolutionized beekeeping with his innovative hive design, his understanding of bee roles, and his promotion of migratory beekeeping. He’s hailed as one of the greatest beekeepers of his time. His meticulous observations and innovative practices laid the foundation for modern apiculture. Janša's legacy lives on, not only in the practices of beekeepers worldwide but also in the celebration of World Bee Day. Why all the buzz about bees? Bees are essential to our existence. sageingtl.com or 800-254-5779

Getting Ahead to Staying Ahead to Avoiding Poverty

The belief that low-wage jobs are primarily filled by teenagers and young adults has long prevailed, but of the quarter of all workers in the United States who make less than $35,000 a year, half are between the ages of 35-64 years old. The economic insecurity for low-wage workers and the middle class threatens the viability of our communities. Tracy Sherwood, Chief Operations Officer for Opportunity Alliance Nevada brings together resources and people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to investigate and understand the barriers faced by struggling low to moderate income Nevadans and provide pathways to self-sufficiency. Today, we visit with Diana Hoffman, President of Music With Confidence a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that goes beyond being just a music school. The Eddy House with Trevor Macaluso, CEO

Trevor Macaluso, the CEO of Eddy House where under his leadership, Eddy House has expanded its impact on homeless youth in the community through its many comprehensive services. Before joining Eddy House Trevor spent many years working in development and nonprofit organizations throughout the state but happy to be back in his hometown. Unfortunately, many youths become homeless suddenly and because of that lack self-sufficiency skills. Unlike adults who have often lived independently prior to experiencing homelessness, most youth who become homeless have never lived on their own. Lacking financial means, marketable skills, maturity, and independent living skills, this is a task for which they are almost invariably ill-prepared. Fortunately, here in Northern Nevada we have Eddy House which provides wrap-around services for homeless, runaway, foster, and other at-risk youth ages 18-24. eddyhouse.org or 775-686-6244 Address: 888 Willow St. Reno, NV 89502 Sageintl.com or 800-254-5779

    Bring Your Purpose to Life

Here’s the truth. We exist on this earth for some undetermined period of time. During that time we do things. Some of these things are important. Some of them are unimportant. And those important things give our lives meaning and happiness. The unimportant ones basically just kill time. So when people say, “What should I do with my life?” or “What is my life purpose?” what they’re actually asking is: “What can I do with my time that is important?” s true that our successes and failures come and go, however they neither define us nor do they determine our worthiness. Your business ideology is a broader, structured system of beliefs that prescribes how those values should be applied. It determines leadership styles, management philosophies, workplace policies and offer a framework for making sense of the world. Simply put, values are the foundation, while ideology is the framework that organizes and applies them. The basic philosophy, spirit, and drive of an organization have far more to do with its achievements than resources, structure, innovation and timing. Sophistication in business started in New York as it was the first state to formally enact a corporate statute in the United States, which occurred in 1811. This act, known as the "Act Relative to Incorporations for Manufacturing Purposes", allowed for the creation of corporations with limited liability, specifically for manufacturing businesses.During the American Civil War, corporations were viewed as the saviors of the Union. Cheri Hill, Champion of Capitalism

Capitalism: An economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth. Friedrich Hayek in his book, The Road to Serfdom warns of the danger of tyranny that inevitably results from government control of economic decision-making through central planning. He further argues that the abandonment of individualism and classical liberalism inevitably leads to a loss of freedom, the creation of an oppressive society, the tyranny of a dictator, and the serfdom of the individual. Countless men and women worked together to create the breakthroughs that today inspire us with awe. It is their stories – of ambition, of bravery, of hope, and of trust in their companions – that we should celebrate as the true legacy of capitalism. Sageintl.com

    A History of Corporations

The first documented "corporation" in Ancient Rome emerged during the Roman Republic (6th to 1st century BC) with evidence suggesting large firms with publicly traded shares. While not identical to modern corporations, these entities were essentially shareholder-based businesses, indicating a form of corporate structure existed in early Roman times. The development of the corporation paved the way for the creation of an entirely new class of citizen: the capitalist. While there have always been rich people, the corporation provided a new way for the rich to grow richer. Instead of hoarding their wealth or spending it on luxuries and riotous living, the rich could instead invest it in a company. As shareholders in a corporation, they could then sit back and watch their investment grow, day in and day out, all through the labors of others, with little to no input from themselves. This marked a sea change in the nature of business. Now it's YOUR turn! www.SageIntl.com
