Dark Ways Movie Review: The Silence/Das Letzte Schweigen

from 1 of my Stories · host 1 of my Stories

While we are waiting for the next series by Baran Bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Steve (Introvoid) and I decided to talk about the first movies by our favorite perfect match. The Silence was released in 2010 and was the first narrative feature by Bo and Jantje. Steve and I talk about the history of development, how the movie is the same and different to Dark, and what the public's reception to the movie was. This FB live was recorded on February 19, 2024 and contains segments where we interact with a live audience. Movie description: In July 1986, young Pia is sexually assaulted and murdered on her bike ride. The case is never solved. In 2009, 23 years later, a girl named Sinnika goes missing in the same manner. David Jahn is assigned to the case, but he's still grieving his wife's death. As the detectives try to solve the possibly linked murders, we follow both the perpetrators and the victims of these crimes during a hot July in Germany. Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. All of Steve's stuff can be found at linktr.ee/introvoid. Lindsey Dunn is a film critic with membership in both NC Film Critics and Southeastern Film Critics. She loves all things Cobra Kai, Netflix Dark, indie horror, and any stories about complicated relationships. You can find her at 1ofmystories.com and most social channels @1ofmystories.
