(00:43) De EU bestaat niet Christoph Schmidt was jarenlang correspondent in Brussel voor Trouw. Na al zijn ervaringen als journalist in het hart van de Europese Unie publiceert hij nu een boek met de titel “De EU bestaat niet”. Schmidt is hierover te gast. (13:18) Slachtoffers bosbranden Chili wachten nog op hulp In februari en maart woedden er zware bosbranden in Chili. Een gebied ter grootte van provincie Gelderland ging in vlammen op en tientallen mensen kwamen om het leven. Honderden mensen raakten hun huis kwijt, waaronder Jorge en Magdalena, die in Santa Juana in het zuiden van Chili wonen. Hier waren de bosbranden het dodelijkst. Enkele maanden later wachten zij nog steeds op hulp van de autoriteiten en correspondent Boris van der Spek zocht de slachtoffers op en maakte een reportage.
