Friends of the Rosary,Today, December 3, the Church celebrates the feast of St. Francis Xavier (1506-1552), one of the Church’s most illustrious missionaries.Born in the castle of Xavier in Navarre, Spain, in 1525, he was from a noble Basque family. In 1534, he went to Paris, where he taught philosophy after obtaining his master’s degree, met St. Ignatius of Loyola, and was enrolled as one of the first seven Jesuits.With Ignatius, he received Holy Orders in Venice in 1537. In 1540, he was sent to evangelize India.
