A childhood dream coming true, giving one man the opportunity to not only serve his country but also his community. Richard Losurdo was in the academy when the 9/11 attacks occurred and he was activated with two weeks left. He was able to complete the academy and reported to active duty the day after graduation. After he fulfilled his military obligation, Losurdo returned to the Highway Patrol and was stationed at Troop A, working the metro area of patrol. While there, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2009. In 2013, he went back to school and completed a Master of Arts in Homeland Security. In 2013, Richard Losurdo was promoted to Lieutenant. He remained at Troop A until 2015 and was then transferred to the Training Academy where he is still serving. He is currently in the process of going back to school to obtain a teacher's certification through East Central University.
