Het is al jaren een vurige wens van premier Netanyahu: hij wil meer grip op de benoeming van rechters en lijkt nu daarin zijn zin te krijgen. Het Israëlische parlement is akkoord met een nieuwe wet, waardoor de aanstelling van het hooggerechtshof na de volgende verkiezingen onder politieke controle komt te staan. De beslissing voert de grootschalige protesten tegen de regering van Netanyahu verder op, al de hele week gaan mensen in Israël de straat op uit woede over het schenden van het staakt-het-vuren.
