Desk of Ladyada - I2C keyboards, encoders and potentiometers... oh my!

from Adafruit Industries · host Adafruit Industries

We're on a bit of a tear, playing with mechanical interface elements like mechanical keyswitches and now rotary encoders. This week we finished our 4-key I2C breakout, we had a yucky edge-case condition in our firmware where an GPIO IRQ could come in while we were handling one already, which caused a lockup. We also finished a very old project to make an I2C rotary encoder, while we were in the seesaw code we extended the code to support up to 16 encoders on arbitrary pins, we're planning on making a 4-encoder I2C breakout with NeoPixels. We also got our prototypes back for some more trinkeys! We're also thinking of making a 4-potentiometer seesaw board. The Great Search - Rotary Potentiometer https://www.digikey.com/short/22hmzq3b Last week we took a peek at Rotary Encoders available at Digi-Key. This week we're going to try to find a similar-footprint rotary potentiometer. When would you want a pot vs an encoder? What is a rheostat? What are some nifty options you can get when ordering? What about knobs? We'll go digging for the potentiometer that best fits our project and share some tips as well. #thegreatsearch @digikey #deskofladyada Visit the Adafruit shop online - http://www.adafruit.com ----------------------------------------- LIVE CHAT IS HERE! http://adafru.it/discord Adafruit on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adafruit Subscribe to Adafruit on YouTube: http://adafru.it/subscribe New tutorials on the Adafruit Learning System: http://learn.adafruit.com/ -----------------------------------------
