Detroit Gives High School Students Up To $1,000 To Attend Class In Order to Curb Chronic Absenteeism

Then we get into the juice—Detroit's Public School Community District is expanding their "Perfect Attendance Pays" program to now include middle school students. The program gives high school students $100 a week for up to 10 weeks for having perfect attendance in school, and now middle schoolers have been added to the program and will get $50 a week. The goal is to boost attendance and combat chronic absenteeism, which the district has struggled with.
