Deuteronomy 17 The people and the king were to worship God alone.

When God set out to create His family he wanted them to worship Him and Him alone. He also spoke about the importance of a future king honoring the Word of God, having just one wife and not being focuses on silver or gold. It is clear in our plurality of faith today we have gotten far from this objective. We live under a different government system with a different constitution with religious freedom.
