The Argentine anthropologist and cultural studies scholar, who grew up in Germany, analyses the dangers of globalised, digital capitalism in the wake of the attacks of 11 September 2001 on the Twin Towers in New York. Fascist conformity is taking hold amidst the loss of global cultural diversity, driven by the total commodification of all areas of life and experience. The destruction of humanity does not come with the loud bang of an atomic bomb, but creeps in on tiptoe as the gradual dispossession of all individuality.
