Different Types of Coping Strategies
from Dr. L.'s Healthy Practices' Podcast · host Dr. Ivor Livingston
One of the things that we cannot completely avoid is stress. Stress is a part of life and something that needs to be managed, so it doesn’t kill us. The truth is that stress is not completely bad. It can be further classified as positive or negative; eustress is a good kind of stress, while distress is the bad kind. What we must avoid is unabated stress. Repetitive stress-inducing events cause chronic stress, which is damaging to our health and well-being. Given the permanence of stress in our everyday lives, we humans must learn to adapt to changes in our environment. Coping skills enable us to consciously manage problems around us. This will help to alleviate stress or mitigate chaos in a way that helps us co-exist with conflict without having it cause us harm.Hope you enjoyed this informative podcast!
