Discernment and the Narrow Door: Deuteronomy 13–14 and Luke 13 (Day 100)

from The Bible in a Year Podcast with Scott Purcell

Happy Day 100! We have officially traveled 100 days through the story of Scripture together. Today in Deuteronomy, Moses speaks on the vital importance of loyalty to God, providing strict warnings against false prophets and those who would lead the heart away from the Truth. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus shatters the idea that tragedy only strikes the "worst" sinners, calling everyone to a life of repentance and describing the "narrow door" that leads to the Kingdom of God.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 13–14 – Moses warns against enticements to idolatry, even from within one's own family or through signs and wonders. We also see a restatement of the dietary laws and the importance of the tithe—reminding Israel that they are a "holy people" set apart for God’s own possession.📖 Luke 13:1–30 – Jesus addresses the news of the day, using current events to call for universal repentance. He heals a woman on the Sabbath, tells the parables of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven, and warns that many will try to enter the narrow door of the Kingdom but will not be able.📖 Proverbs 9:1–12 – A beautiful contrast between the invitations of Wisdom and Folly. Wisdom has built her house and prepared her feast, crying out: "Leave your simple ways, and live."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions?
