But while most of us have accepted the idea of algorithms making, or helping make, some of the mundane decisions in our day-to-day lives, when do we prefer human discretion to the inscrutable judgment of A.I.? And how do we keep algorithms, some of which are tasked with making predictions that are far from mundane, from exacerbating existing problems of bias and inequality?
