Don't Worry Darling?
from K-Talk · host K Chynn
Should we be worried? So I was never going to watch this movie. I had heard that it was all about sex, and I was like, pass. However, one day I wanted something to watch, and there were limited psychological thrillers (my favs), so I watched. Olivia Wilde did a fantastic job; I think the film needed more power. That being said, for something made through covid, it was executed very well. The storyline is interesting because although the role reversal is not the focal point, it makes you think about gender and equality. It reminded me of Surrogates and a little Stepford Housewife simultaneously. The funny thing is that, essentially, this movie shows that the male ego is fickle. Regardless of women coming up, men do not want to feel like the lesser partner, and they use sex to keep you in that cage, and when that does not work, they take your soul.
