Doras and other organisations working in the refugee and migrant sector are extremely concerned about the negative impact and consequences of the deportation operations being undertaken by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration. They say that the approach being taken by the Irish government creates an environment of fear for people in the protection system, causing significant distress for those awaiting decisions. It fails to respect peoples’ dignity, does not recognise their contribution and value to Irish society, and risks putting them in danger in the country they are returned to.
