    Cancer Trials Ireland - The Ability Show 18/06/26

Haulie is a larger- than-life character who has come from humble beginnings, but has lived life to the full and, as he would say himself, has blagged his way through a lot of it. He speaks here with Adrianne about his book, a few of his memories and what the title means.     Summer Meals Project - The Today Show 15/06/26

    The Summer Meals Project runs throughout July and August across County Roscommon. Backed by the Galway and Roscommon ETB and community groups, the initiative provides hot meals to children and teens (ages 10–18) attending participating UBU youth services. Ruth Griffin, ETBI Youth Services Manager chats here with Adrianne about the Summer Meals Project and what it means for some children who may have gone hungry when school finished for the Summer. Involvement in the Summer Meals Programme requires active participation in your local youth services, so sign up by going to ETBI Service Directory or visit your local Foroige or Youth Services offices and Family Resource Centres like the South Roscommon Family Resource Centre and the Ballaghaderreen Family Resource Centre frequently host community summer camps, play days, and family food events.

    Roscommon LEADER Partnership - The Today Show 15/06/26

    Since 2008, Roscommon have been hosting students from Wageningen University in the Netherlands for 2 weeks in the month of June. They are studying ‘International Community Development’, like the ‘Community & Rural Development’ work that the Roscommon LEADER Partnership engages in throughout the year. As part of their studies, the students undertake 2 weeks of field research work in the community they are temporarily living in. Adrianne is joined in studio by Anthony Dockery, SICAP Coordinator with Roscommon LEADER Partnership who runs this project and organises host families for these students in County Roscommon, she is also joined by three of these Dutch students to talk about the research they have been doing, Mart Marck who is spending his two weeks in the village of Loughglynn, and Hannah Vink and Loekla van Geleuken who are living with host families in Roscommon Town.

    Irish Kidney Association - The Ability Show 11/06/26

    Having spoken to Colin White last week from the Irish Kidney Association about the need for kidney donors and for people to carry donor cards, Adrianne is joined this week by Susan Mulligan who is an organ donor recipient. Susan talks about her life on dialysis and the kidney transplant operation she had in 2019, which has changed her life. She is so grateful to the family of the donor, who have literally given her life, and she has even gone on to have a baby, which would not have been possible before the transplant.     Parkinson's Ireland Roscommon - The Ability Show 11/06/26

    Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that primarily affects movement. It occurs when nerve cells in the brain (specifically those responsible for producing dopamine) die or are damaged. Ciara O’Connell is 48 years of age and has been living with the condition for over 13 years. Ciara tells Adrianne about her diagnosis, her symptoms, the medication available and the DBS or Deep Brain Stimulation surgery she has had that has changed her life. She also talks about the supports that are available to both the person with Parkinson's and their families/carers. These supports are provided by the charitable organisation Parkinson's Galway-Roscommon that is run by amazing volunteers like Caroline Rushe.     Roscommon Comhairle na nÓg - The Today Show 08/06/26

    Listen Link was developed by members of Roscommon Comhairle na nÓg after young people identified mental health as a key issue during the 2023 Annual Youth Conference. Since then, members have worked together to shape the initiative and advocate for improved mental health supports for young people across County Roscommon. They recently presented their Listen Link initiative at Leinster House following an invitation from Senator Gareth Scahill who has been championing their initiative, which involves counsellors visiting schools to counsel and support students when they are suffering with their mental health. Kate Duffy is one of the members of Roscommon Comhairle na nÓg who has worked on this initiative and she joins Adrianne here to discuss what it involves and when we might see it rolled out in schools around the county.

    Oxfam Ireland - The Today Show 25/05/26

    Oxfam Ireland has launched an emergency appeal as the deadly Ebola outbreak spreads in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here Adrianne speaks with Jim Clarken, CEO of Oxfam Ireland, about the virus outbreak and the help they are currently providing through local volunteers, but he says that funding is critical to prevent uncontrolled spread of the virus and reduce the risk of a wider regional health crisis.     A recent briefing hosted by the All Party Oireachtas Group on Dementia (APOGD) has exposed the hidden reality faced by More than 4,500 people in Ireland under the of 65 who have been diagnosed with young-onset dementia.     Cave to Compass: Finding Relief from Fibromyalgia - The Ability Show 09/04/26

    Kathryn Mary Crowley is an artist, poet, author based in Kerry who has suffered with the pain, and other debilitating symptoms of fibromyalgia for a large chunk of her adult life. She is now, in her own words, about 80%-90% recovered from the pain, while not taking any pain medication, and she has written a book entitled ‘Cave to Compass’, in the hope that, by sharing her story and what has helped her, it might help other sufferers.     Rathcroghan Visitor Centre - The Today Show 23/03/26

    Rathcroghan is known as the ancient Capital of Connacht, where the festival of Samhain (Halloween) is said to originate. This majestic landscape is the oldest and largest unexcavated Royal Site in Europe.     Eugene Murphy Interview - The Today Show 23/03/26

    Eugene Murphy served as a Fianna Fáil TD for the Roscommon/Galway constituency from 2016 to 2020 and as an Irish Senator for the Agricultural Panel from June 2020 to January 2025. Eugene didn’t manage to get re-elected to the Dail in the last election, and Adrianne managed to catch up with him to discuss what he is doing now within the community, which involves musical events in the Percy French Hotel and helping to organise an Easter parade in Strokestown. They also discuss his hopes are for the future, which involves hopefully getting back into politics in some way.

    Irish Cancer Society - The Today Show 16/03/26

    Each year the Irish Cancer Society provides information, care & support to over 1.2 million people across Ireland who are affected by cancer. They are only able to this because of the public’s generosity in helping them raise funds through different methods, with their biggest fundraiser being Daffodil Day. This year Daffodil Day is on Friday, 20th March. Ahead of this very important day, Adrianne talks to Mary Murray, Midwest Community Fundraiser with the Irish Cancer Society. They speak about the various ways you can help this Daffodil Day and the services that your donations go towards.     For years now, young people have suffered enormous distress caused by bullying through social media platforms and messaging Apps. Tragically, it has resulted in death by suicide in some cases. Adrianne speaks here with Sean Kelly MEP, who has said that while the EU cyberbullying strategy is welcome, it is unfortunately not quite enough. He supports all action to better protect and educate children and has, throughout his political career, advocated for more action to protect minors online. He has also consistently called upon the EU to criminalise online bullying and harassment citing the new Irish Coco's Law example, which he would like to adopted and enacted within the whole of the EU.
