Dorothy Peteet, researcher at NASA and Columbia University, about climate change and climate shifts

from Radio Aula Mundi · host Radio Aula Mundi

Dr. Dorothy M. Peteet is a Senior Research Scientist at NASA/Goddard  Institute for Space Studies and Adjunct Professor, Columbia University. She  directs the Paleoecology Division of the New Core Lab at Lamont Doherty  Earth Observatory of Columbia and in collaboration with GISS climate  modelers and LDEO geochemists is studying the Late Pleistocene and  Holocene archives of lakes and wetlands (peatlands, salt marshes, tidal  freshwater marshes, bogs, fens). So, her research focuses on  paleoecology and paleoclimatology, and in the face of a rapidly changing  climate today, she and her team of students and researchers turn to the  landscapes around us as well as their historical archives to give us  the best possible hints of the magnitude and rapidity of past climate  shifts, and their relevance for our future. Their group utilizes  field trips to wetlands (salt marshes, fresh marshes, bogs, fens, and  swamps) to combine the study of modern plant ecology with retrieval of  long sediment cores. --- https://people.climate.columbia.edu/users/profile/dorothy-peteet https://www.giss.nasa.gov/staff/dpeteet.html https://www.arcus.org/researchers/35500/display https://www.sciencenews.org/article/climate-change-wally-broecker-abrupt-ocean-conveyor-belt --- At the moment, Radio Aula Mundi is an evolving podcast station where no language and all languages are spoken…  It’s  a multilingual mix of music, poetry, lectures, languages, interviews,  documentaries, recipes, and a lot more, co-produced with the students of  the ‘Aula Mundi International Cultural Center’… --- Radio Aula Mundi Centro Cultural & Turistico Aula Mundi Aula Mundi Cultural Travel Center https://radioaulamundi.bandcamp.com/ https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/radio-aula-mundi/id1584156605 https://www.amazon.com/author/marcorixecker Spotify YouTube https://castbox.fm/channel/Let's-talk-about-it%2C-anywhere-in-the-world...-id4725033?country=us Breaker  Player FM  Facebook  Radio Aula Mundi
