Dr Deane Waldman, Author - The Cancer In Healthcare
from The Boomer and The Babe Radio Network · host Deborah Louise Brown
Author Dr. Deane Waldman did his homework; as University of Chicago’s former head of pediatric cardiology he knows that our healthcare system is sick and in desperate need of a emergancy care. According to his book “The Cancer In Healthcare: How Greed Is Killing What We Love,” healthcare itself has become a very sick patient, with the cancer of greed and bureaucracy adversely affecting doctors and patients alike. “Something is very wrong ... and though some blame insurance companies, hospitals or government, there is something far more insidious at work and Americans need to know the truth.” Dr. Waldman is working at the grass roots level to start a larger national dialog to talk about what good patient care should look like and how we can over-hall a top-heavy bureaucratic system to one that allows doctors to give real patient care. In short: he wants to put the ‘care’ back in healthcare. “You are no longer a sick patient in need of healthcare. You are now a revenue source for doctor and hospital, a consumer of big pharma products and an expense item for insurance under our current system. Worse of all, you have become a vote-for-sale in Washington says Dr.Waldman.
