Dr Michelle Dickinson: nanotechnologist on New Zealand being one of five nations most likely to survive apocalyptic winter

With Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine and the climate crisis, we seem to be closer to a global catastrophe and the demise of human civilisation than ever before.  Luckily, a new study has confirmed that New Zealand is better placed to survive an apocalyptic winter than most other nations. Researchers from The Univeristy of Otago and Adapt Research studied 38 island nations and judged them on 13 risk factors to predict success of post-apocalyptic survival. Nanotechnologist Dr Michelle Dickinson says New Zealand has unique advantages, including being placed close enough to the ocean to be cushioned from temperature plunges and a strong food export economy.
